As crowdfunding chugs on, we would like to reminisce on the overwhelming support we received during Fundraiser Week, from inside and outside of the station.
It is always a pleasure and a gift to have bands perform for us, but we managed to open and close out Fundraiser week with a concert! We are so fortunate that so many artists are willing to help us out, and that our impact remains after 70 years.
This Fundraiser Week, we also showcased other artistic talent through an art auction, and we are stretching our community to events at local businesses such as the War Mouth here in Columbia.
And of course, our events would be nothing without our supportive community of donors and listeners. We are so thankful of every aspect of the WUSC community, be it our DJs, listeners, performers, and our donors.
WUSC continues to break the boundary between FM and real-life, and our events and broadcasts can only be sustained with your help. Thank you so much for that help.
We’re excited to finish out this year better than ever, and to welcome new DJs, listeners, and expand our community with each passing year.
Thank you all for your contributions and please forward this to your friends and family so they too can be part of WUSC's future!
Wow.
That’s it, just. wow.
We knew that when we set out to raise $7,000 it was going to be a challenge, and it certainly was one that we saw all the way through to the very last minute but WE MADE IT HAPPEN!
Our success is entirely owed to each of you, and for that we are forever grateful! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to each and every donor that made this campaign a success. We sincerely appreciate your generosity, and myself, our executive staff, and the entire WUSC DJ body would like you to know that you have personally contributed to our ability to continue doing what we love:
Providing unique, fun, and interesting radio content to the Columbia, South Carolina community and our listeners everywhere.
We will continue to keep in touch with each of you, as we would love for you all to remain connected to the station that you have helped so much as we continue our adventures!
Please look forward to future updates where you’ll have the opportunity to hear from individuals that you impacted and see pictures of exactly what your donations have been able to do for our station!
Thank you all, truly!

In the last 29 days, we have been blown away by your generosity! More than 100 people have come together to help WUSC stay on the air, and with only 15 hours left, we are 83% funded. We need YOU to cross that $7,000 threshold before midnight! So what can you do right now?!
Together, we can continue to share and promote great local radio!
Thank you for your support! Without you, none of this would be possible.
At long last, we have arrived (almost)!
On behalf of WUSC, our entire executive staff, and our DJ body, I would like to thank every single participant in our crowdfunding venture, whether you donated $500, $1, or simply shared our post with your friends, family, and coworkers. Seriously, thank you!
We have just three short days left for our campaign, and we are so incredibly happy with the progress that we have seen over the past few weeks. We are still very optimistic that we can hit our goal with one last epic surge of generosity.
With the $5000 that we have raised, we will be able to do so much for our station, most importantly, pay for a portion of our yearly fees to keep 90.5FM up and running in the city of Columbia and beyond!
To conclude our last update, I would like to say just a few more things. First, we desperately want to reach our goal of $7,000! Please share our webpage with everyone you can to help us reach that goal in the last few days of our campaign! Second, we have many great plans to remain in contact with all of you who took part in this campaign so you can see just how much you have helped WUSC and touched it’s members! Lastly, I would like to say thank you one more time. You all have been so generous to our station and we appreciate it greatly!
Thank you!

Update #3 coming at you live! Thanks to all who have donated so far, we truly appreciate your generosity in supporting college radio!
I cannot believe just how fast time flies. We are at 65% of our goal and have just 9 days left until our crowdfunding campaign comes to a close. That being said, we still have much to accomplish and we need your help to do it!
We are the first student organization on the University of South Carolina’s campus that has had the opportunity to run a crowdfunding campaign like this, and we desperately want to reach our goal to prove that we are a great first selection for this opportunity!
If 500 people donate $5, we would hit our goal! That’s just 13% of all of our Facebook followers!
If 250 people donate $10 or 25 people donated $100, we would reach our goal and achieve success!
We have tremendous faith in the continued generosity of our listener community, our social media followers, our previous donors, and supporters of USC Student Media. As we continue into the last week of our campaign, please share http://bit.ly/wusccrowd with your family and friends, as well as share on all of your social media platforms so that we can gather one last momentous surge towards our goal!
We’ve got just a few power hours left as well, so take these opportunities to get exclusive WUSC merch!
We can do this!

Hello again, everyone!
Mitchell back on the typewriter for a moment, bringing you some updates after another successful week!
We’ve been live for just over two weeks now, and man oh man have we seen some success and such generosity from all of you! As I type this update, we have reached 55% of our project goal and sit nicely atop more than $3,800 in donations!
The station as a whole is beyond grateful for everyone’s generosity and commitment to WUSC. We thank all of our donors from the bottom of heart as you’ve helped us pursue our financial goals to keep our beloved station up-and-running for another year.
To recap last week: we hosted two percent nights in the City of Columbia, had a bake sale on campus, and hosted our semi-annual Jamboree at the Wired Goat in the Vista! We had a great time interacting with all of you at these events! Check out the picture below for a taste of the awesome!
As we press onward into week three, you all can expect a few power hours coming your way which are a great chance for you to get some exclusive WUSC merch! We’ve also got many great over-the-air shows planned for you all this week, so tune in @ wusc.sc.edu and keep it locked on WUSC! Let’s keep this great momentum we have moving forward so that we can reach our goal of $7,000!
See you in a week,

Hello, everyone!
Mitchell Roberts, your friendly neighborhood station manager here to give your our first update on our crowdfunding efforts!
We went live last Monday, and we have seen encouraging success already! We currently have 30 donors who have donated over $1630 total! That’s 23% of our goal for this campaign!
We cannot say thank you enough for those of you who have donated already, but hopefully this will do: THANK YOU! However, we still need help. Please share this page with your friends and family, especially those who you know love to listen to WUSC and college radio. Every donation helps, every new donor is a potential new long-time listener of our beloved station.
We have some great events planned for this week. Yesterday, we had a bake sale and raised close to $200! Tomorrow. we have a percent night at Moe’s on Main St. and then a dance party at Breakers Bar and Grill, and on Saturday, we have a show at the Wired Goat in the Vista!
As we move into week two, we have many great things planned. I’ll even drop a hint: power hours! During these power hours, we may even provide donors with exclusive WUSC merch. Keep your eyes peeled!
Until next time,
Mitchell Roberts aka WUSC FM &
HD1 Columbia Station Manager aka DJ Dad
