Help WUSC meet our annual fundraising goal so we can continue to provide original programming to the Carolina community and beyond! WUSC has an annual fundraising goal of $14,000. Thanks to the generosity of our donors in the fall we were able to bring in $7150! Our Spring fundraising week kicks off Friday, March 24 and will run through April 1st!
When you combine our underwriting, fundraisers and generous donors we are very close to our goal so we have set this semester's goal at $2000 to hit our mark.
WUSC is the student run radio station at the University of South Carolina. WUSC is one of the few remaining free format FM college radio stations in the country; we’re raising money to keep our station on the air! Every dollar raised will help us in a variety of ways-from paying licensing fees to replacing old equipment, every bit counts!
Left of the dial, right in your ear!
WUSC is Columbia’s only free format non-commercial radio station that provides programming that cannot be found anywhere else! We have been on air since 1947 and proudly broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 100% student run, our DJ body is made up of an eclectic group of students, staff, faculty and alumni of the university who produce a wide variety of shows. With a 30-mile radius, we have a strong listenership in the Midlands and are committed to serving our local community with exposure to artists and music they might not hear otherwise. We can also be streamed online and have hundreds of daily listeners from all over the world! We take our mission to heart, our purpose being to educate both our listener and the DJ so our impact is twofold. Not only are we making a difference in the cultural offerings of our community but are also giving hundreds of USC students the opportunity to be a part of our station.
Maintaining our rich history.
WUSC provides our students with unique experiences that range from simply learning how to run a board and be a DJ to running the station itself. These leadership opportunities have not only provided our students with valuable professional experience but have also helped to create a strong sense of community for these students while at Carolina.
WUSC supports local artists with programming specifically targeted to showcasing performers from the Midlands. In addition to our commitment to giving local artists on air exposure, we also coordinate several concerts a semester in conjunction with local businesses to showcase the amazing talent within our community.
WUSC enriches the local community. We have an extremely loyal listenership in the Columbia area and beyond. As the only non-commercial, non-top 40 station in the Midlands, we provide programming that simply cannot be found anywhere else in the region. WUSC is truly Columbia’s oasis!
Every donation helps!
All money raised will be used to pay our annual licensing and registration fees, update equipment and allow for us to attend the CBI (Collegiate Broadcasters Inc) Media Convention in 2017. Because WUSC is non-commercial and 100% student run, we rely on donations and underwriting to stay on the air. While we do receive some fees from the university, approximately 20% of our budget comes from self-generated revenue. Operating and maintaining a radio station can be expensive as our licenses and fees continue to rise.
Without the support of our community, WUSC would not be able to provide Columbia and our surrounding area with unique programming and provide Carolina's students with real-world radio experience.
