17 hours left - thank you!

May 04, 2017

Friends and colleagues —

You have been amazing. We are so deeply grateful to so many people. Our project goal is 107 percent funded, and we have only 17 hours to go. Right now is your last chance to become a donor — help us support the work of young scholars in Irish studies and queer studies. And please plan to join us for one of the keynotes, which are free and open to the public, or for the final reception, which is open to donors to the conference as well as conference participants. Two weeks from now! This is going to be an amazing, rich, provocative, intellectually fascinating, politically challenging, and community-building weekend!

Fully funded with a week left to go?!

April 28, 2017

THANK YOU! In less than a month, you have helped ensure that graduate students and junior faculty from Ireland, Northern Ireland, Canada, France, and the United States, as well as independent scholars who have no institutional support, can attend join us at Queering Ireland this May.

But the work doesn't stop just yet! Any additional donations to our crowdfunding campaign will increase our outreach potential and give us the opportunity to welcome more students and faculty that otherwise would not be able to attend.

Keep sharing, keep clicking, and again, thank you all so much! We are thrilled to bring Queering Ireland to Carolina with your support.

Local theater to host The Queen of Ireland!

April 19, 2017

The Nickelodeon Theater is hosting The Queen of Ireland on May 16 in conjunction with the Queering Ireland conference at USC! The documentary film tells the story of trailblazing Irish drag queen and gay activist Panti Bliss, pictured below.

A longtime anchor of Dublin’s gay culture, Panti was also active in the 2015 marriage referendum campaign. If you haven’t seen Panti’s amazing speech about homophobia, “Panti’s Noble Call,” delivered from the stage of Dublin’s Abbey Theatre (Ireland’s national theatre), check it out at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXayhUzWnl0

The film is the second screening in the Nick’s new OUT Here film series (http://nickelodeon.org/series/out-here/), a community-curated monthly LGBTQ film series.

Thanks for your support of the Queering Ireland conference and stay tuned for more exciting updates!
