Charles Bierbauer, the University of South Carolina’s current longest standing dean, is closing out his 15 years of service with the College of Information and Communications. During this time of reflection, our Alumni Society Steering Committee is challenging YOU, to help us honor Charles by participating in the #ThanksCharles Scholarship Drive.
The CIC Alumni Society Scholarship Fund provides tuition assistance for students attending one of our two schools: the School of Journalism and Mass Communications and the School of Library and Information Science. This scholarship fund, created by our alumni, is running dry. To honor Charles, we are working to raise funds for 15 student scholarships in just 15 days!

In the past 15 years the CIC has expanded degree options for students, excelled in the promotion of children’s literacy through Cocky’s Reading Express, and moved our School of Journalism and Mass Communications into its new home with state-of-the-art technology. Our alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends have so much to be proud of! What could be more fitting than honoring our outgoing dean with scholarship support for the bright students within our college?
Undergraduate seniors graduating in 2017 receive a Senior Class Legacy cord to wear at graduation with participation at this giving level.
As a token of our appreciation, you’ll receive a Twitter shout out along with the above listed incentives.
Your gift at this level gets you a photo and handwritten note from one of the student scholarship recipients plus the listed incentives above.
In addition to the above listed incentive, you’ll receive an invite to a small reception with our incoming dean.
Your gift at this level gets you a CIC Cocky bobblehead plus all incentives listed above.
You will be thanked for your gift at this level with an invitation to the CIC Cockaboose tailgate during a pre-determined USC football game for Fall 2017. You will also receive all of the incentives listed above.
In addition to all of the above listed incentives, your gift at this level grants you recognition into our Dean’s Circle giving society.
