USC Mountaineering and Whitewater Club Fundraiser for Gear Replacement

Who Are We?

The USC Mountaineering & Whitewater Club (MWW) is a community of students who share a love for adventure, challenge, and the outdoors. We organize hiking, climbing, backpacking, whitewater, and service trips that give students the chance to explore the Southeast’s incredible mountains and rivers — often for the very first time, as well as getting the chance to give back to their community. Beginning in 1974, our mission has been to make outdoor recreation accessible, affordable, and safe for all USC students, regardless of experience level. We remain dedicated to creating an inclusive community that's centered around a shared love and appreciation for nature. With two to four trips every weekend our club gives students the opportunity to create meaningful relationships with each other and with the great outdoors

The Project and Impact

MWW is a student run and student funded organization. In order to keep our club accessible and affordable the semester dues are only $75. This provides students with gas money for trips, all necessary camping equipment, costs associated with reservations and gear rentals, as well as a Wilderness First Aid certified student trip leader. In order to maintain the low cost of semester dues we are looking for extra funding to replace our old camping equipment. 

After years of adventure, our club’s shared gear — tents, sleeping bags, stoves, and safety equipment — has seen countless miles and storms. Much of it now needs to be replaced to keep our members safe and comfortable in the backcountry. By upgrading our gear, we can take more students on overnight trips, improve safety standards, and create more inclusive opportunities for new adventurers to experience nature responsibly. 

Every piece of quality gear means more students can join our trips without having to buy their own expensive equipment. With your support, we’ll expand access to the outdoors and build a stronger, safer community of USC adventurers.
