USC Engineers without Borders
Let’s Make Classrooms Safe Again, One Drain at a Time
We are Engineers Without Borders – University of South Carolina, a group of students using our education to serve others. Our mission is simple: to work hand-in-hand with communities to design practical, sustainable engineering projects that make daily life safer and healthier — while giving students like us valuable, real-world experience in service.
Our current project is in Txemuj, Guatemala, where the water runs through classrooms and walkways, creating an unsafe environment that poses a threat to the youth's education!!!
We’re designing and building a drainage system that will protect the school from flooding, improve sanitation, and give children a clean, safe place to learn. Our first trip is planned for March 2026, when our team will travel to Guatemala to begin the work directly alongside the local community.
The funds we raise will go directly toward:
- Travel costs so our student engineers can work on-site with the community
- Materials and tools needed to build the drainage system
- Project logistics and implementation to ensure it’s done safely and sustainably
Every donation — no matter the amount — brings us one step closer to transforming this school and giving its students the safe learning environment they deserve.
We are deeply grateful for your support. Your generosity not only helps a community in need, but also empowers future engineers to learn through service, compassion, and hands-on experience that makes a real difference.
Thank you for helping us make a lasting impact in Txemuj, Guatemala.
