School of Medicine Columbia - MD Class of 1999

Our alumni have unique personality traits and aptitudes that include high intelligence, professionalism, and a common passion for helping others. But, let’s be honest – you’re also a competitive group! That's why milestone classes in 2009 created a friendly reunion competition to promote high giving participation and high attendance from each class at the annual Alumni Reunion Weekend. Welcome to the Class Reunion Challenge!

This year, we’ve created a special online platform dedicated to the individual reunion classes, which features a donor wall and giving meter. If you have supported medical student scholarships during this fiscal year (beginning July 1, 2023), your gift(s) has already been uploaded to the site and counted towards your class goal. Otherwise, we invite you to join your classmates and make a gift today to support the Alumni Scholarship Fund.

This friendly competition will provide your class a chance to win bragging rights and prize awards during our Alumni Reunion Weekend, slated for May 17-19, 2024! Your class will also garner special recognition in our alumni newsletter, The Garnet Microscope, and on our website for the remainder of the year.

The deadline for gifts to be counted is Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 8:30 P.M. EST.

Why is the Alumni Scholarship Fund so important? Today, most medical students graduate with $200,000+ of debt. Given the amount of debt these students incur, support for those striving to become future physicians is a top priority, particularly for culturally and economically underrepresented medical students. Your gift to the Alumni Scholarship Fund impacts not only students but also the future of health care in South Carolina and beyond.
