Who We Are
Founded in 1908, The Daily Gamecock is the editorially independent student newspaper at the University of South Carolina. Dailygamecock.com, along with a daily email edition, is your online source for The Daily Gamecock's coverage of all things USC.
The Daily Gamecock's mission is to inform, seek the truth and inspire through our reporting on issues that face the Carolina community.
The Project
The Daily Gamecock is participating in College Media Madness 2023, a competition between student-run newsrooms from across the country. Last year, over 30 newsrooms raised over $124,000 from more than 1,000 individual donations, raising awareness and funds for the important work college newsrooms do for their communities.
College Media Madness 2023 runs from March 13 to April 3.
The Impact
The Daily Gamecock provides University of South Carolina students in any course of study with practical and valuable experience in any of the many facets of journalism and media production. Students can explore their interests and skills, develop them further, and learn how to communicate those skills to potential employers, whether their career aspirations relate to media or not. The responsibility of running a student newspaper prepares our staff members for a lifetime of leadership and hard work that sets them apart from their peers.
