In March of 2020, a team of residents, attendings, and other medical and non-medical volunteers will embark again to Masindi, Uganda to help aid Masindi-Katara Medical Centre (MKMC). Although support continues at this site with on-site aid, this is part of an ongoing project that allows the hospital to be sustainable without donor support.
This year we will continue our needs assessment and continue hands-on care during a week-long clinic outreach, which has been an important component of helping to continue to allocate resources at MKMC and in the Masindi region. With your help we can continue to support MKMC to ensure that it stays a sustainable healthcare system.
In March 2020, we are excited to continue our ultrasound training series that has involved not just hospital staff, but providers from across the region. This year, we have the privilege of working with nurses and midwives on training in Obstetrics and Trauma ultrasound. Thanks to technology available with Clarius (copyright) portable handheld ultrasound scanners, we will be able to leave the ultrasound probe behind and continue our own peripheral support of patient care with users of the machine in Masindi from overseas. This training, use, and interaction will allow us to collect data as part of a ongoing research project in conjunction with Prisma Health Emergency Department.
Please consider joining us in supporting this community of Ugandans who desperately seek sustainable healthcare.
