The USMLE Step 1 Examination (Step 1) is a national standardized exam for MII students, and passage is required for students to advance to their 3rd year of medical school. According to the National Resident Matching Program, the Step 1 score is the number one metric residency programs consider when determining whether or not a student is offered an interview. One of the best and most popular ways to prepare for the exam is to pour over question banks months in advance of the test. However, not every medical student has the same access to these materials. The software license fee is $359.00 per student, and given the high cost of a medical education, this amount is insurmountable for many students.
By supporting this fund, you are ensuring that all MII students have equal access to Step 1 preparatory materials in order to lift the average of the class as a whole. When possible, funds will also support the purchase of prep software for Step 2 Testing.
